Breast Cancer Awareness $5 Gold Coin

Commemorative Coin Programs

Background

In 2018, the U.S. Mint released the Breast Cancer Awareness $5 Gold Coin, the first gold coin in the U.S. with a pink hue. The coin is part of the Breast Cancer Awareness Commemorative Coin Program, which recognizes the many Americans who are impacted by the disease and the effort to prevent it through research. The program includes a gold, silver, and clad coin. A design competition selected the common obverse and reverse designs emblematic of the fight against breast cancer.
